Sean Diddy Combs, the head of Bad Boy Records and a businessman, was arrested on Monday night in Manhattan, New York, after being indicted by a grand jury.
Planned to take place on Tuesday, the arrest was brought forward for some unexplained cause. It is said that the arrest is associated with several lawsuits for sex trafficking and other severe offenses.
Sean Diddy Combs Arrested in Manhattan by Homeland Security:
The site TMZ reports that the incident happened at a midtown hotel in Manhattan where Puffy has been known to reside. Federal agents from Homeland Security stormed the hotel about 11 p.m. on Monday to effect the arrest. After arresting him, the FBI escorted him to the FBI field office residence in the borough. Police sources disclosed that his first arrest was to have been effected on Tuesday, 17th September.
In an interview with the New York Times, an anonymous source privy to the case said that Diddy was arrested after a grand jury had indicted him, although the indictment papers are yet to be unsealed.
As much as the actual charges have not been outlined, they include Racketeering and sex trafficking based on a criminal probe related to lawsuits by his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, who accused him of sex trafficking and years of abuse.
Diddy’s Attorney Responds to the Arrest:
In an interview with TMZ, Marc Agnifilo, who is the attorney for Diddy, who was arrested, said this:” We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S Attorney’s Office” Aignifilo added.
He defended Diddy, saying he was a ‘music icon, self-made business mogul, loving father, and a now substantiated philanthropist who has dedicated the past three decades to making an economic empire and empowering Black people.’
Agnifilo said, “The man has flaws but is not a criminal. Mr. Combs has been very cooperative with this probe and moved to New York last week without any prompting about these charges. You should wait for the truth. These are the actions of an innocent man, and he awaits to prove his innocence in court.
