Volkswagen Taos: Volkswagen’s new strategy has the automaker revamping its subcompact SUV offerings, the 2025 Taos, to be a more tailored product to North American tastes. Instead of imposing European characteristics upon the American audience, the brand has worked on enhancing the Taos with related changes that would suit the U.S. market. Engine and Performance Upgrades of Volkswagen Taos:
The 2025 Taos also receives some performance upgrades resulting in changes to its 1. 5-liter engine. Every single part has been changed, i.e., piston rings and turbocharger housing have been adjusted, fuel injectors are new, and the intercooler is larger now. These modifications increase power output by 16 hp to a total of 174 hp; torque remains unchanged at 184 lb-ft.
Another change that should also affect the automobile’s performance is the transmission update. New for all-wheel-drive models this year is an 8-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the previous 7-speed dual-clutch.
This is meant to solve customer concerns about the sometimes harsh shifting of the dual-clutch, as some customers reported it even though it was a vehicle malfunction. Only the Jetta GLI, Golf GTI, and Golf R sold in the U.S. will have VW’s DSG transmission.

This new coloring is also taken further to the door panels in soft leatherette with different stitch lines depending on the model. The 2025 Taos facelift introduces new thinking regarding front and rear design. Among them is a new full-width light bar at the rear, with shorter headlamps joined by a strip of illumination at the top of the range. New standard headlights on base models are LED projector lights, while SE models have adaptive headlights and both front and rear parking sensors.
The other shades include Bright Moss Green, Monterey Blue Pearl, and Monument Gray, which give the Taos a vibrant facelift. These colors are also offered on the new Jetta and Jetta GLI models as well as on previous models of the car.
Fuel Economy and Efficiency:
Volkswagen has not revealed the exact fuel economy numbers, but they should be at least as good as the 2024 Taos ratings.
